Once innovative ergonomics has been overcome, Tompoma focuses on the study of materials
The continuous requests of potential customers for different and better crutches than the Canadian crutch, and the feedback from users of the first Tompoma models in TITANIUM, have led Renato Brignone to want to take on a new challenge: develop a product range that could satisfy a wider range of users, different models with different materials, at different prices.
These have been intense years of hard technical work involving metalworking experts with experience in the motorcycle and car racing sector, experts in depth welding, fusors and die-casters, painters, etc…. explains Crivelli, expert in ultralight metal alloys, and today a Tompoma member.
The shape of the common Canadian crutch has been revolutionized, and ensuring the right resistance to the front corner of the innovative Tompoma grip, in the shape of a zed, maintaining an overall acceptable weight, was a real challenge.
The main difficulty, explains Crivelli, responsible for production, was precisely linked to the maintenance of the crutch’s geometry, a strong point of the performance of the walk and of the winning design that has always declared its success.
Today, thanks to these efforts and commitment by all the industries and artisans involved in the project, TOMPOMA presents itself to the public with versions ranging from structural aluminum with visible welds, to hardwood of different kinds for different tastes and with internal stability-enhancing reinforcements, to Tompoma’s ultralight ecological alloys for the Proman version, a cast block with deep holes to obtain the internal sliding seat of the tube adjustment.
The work, explains Crivelli, has not ended here. Today we present our intermediate stage, because in our production centre in Pesaro we are working continuously to develop even lighter, stronger and more highly-performing models, without ever intervening on the change in shape and proportion.
We will soon be able to propose exceptional aesthetic solutions affirming the uniqueness of the world of our products. A technical challenge that has piqued the interest of all our collaborators.
