“TOMPOMA IS NOT A CRUTCH,
IS A POSITIVE WAY TO LIVE
Born in 1970, disabled by birth or ‘handicapped’, as people used to say back then!
My father gave me a passion for mountains ever since I was a child, so since then I have also been heavily trekking, skiing and practicing several other sports.
Over time I have broken many crutches, at least a couple a year, although they should have held nominally more than 100 kg.
In 2002 I climbed Monte Rosa to the Margherita hut and to the Zumstein peak:
I had reinforced crutches, but soon after the climb, those broke too.
Tired of low quality and low performance products,
I have always been looking for suitable shapes and materials to obtain the ideal crutch.
“WE STRONGLY BELIEVE
THAT THE STRENGTH OF A COMPANY
IS BASED ABOVE ALL
ON THE TEAM THAT COMPRISES IT ”
After years of research and tests, thanks also to the help and support
of my life partner Elisabetta Garoni, architect and designer,
TOMPOMA was born: a really strong, light crutch with an innovative shape.
In 2016 I met Corrado Crivellifounding member of the Cluster MG12 Europa,
great expert in metal alloys, who became passionate about the project.
With him we started experimenting with new technologies and alloys that were increasingly well-performing and innovative,
applying them to the model we were already working on.
First of all, this work fascinated Nathalie Ghioni, who immediately engaged in the communication of our
ambitious project and Paolo Milanoli, Olympic gold-medalist in fencing, who joined the team with enthusiasm
bringing new perspectives and ambitious points of view at odds with the logic of the sector.
After defining the fundamental elements, thanks to the complementarity of the different professional figures
that make up the team and a strong synergy work,
TOMPOMA has finally arrived on the market.
How many efforts, how many challenges, how many obstacles to overcome every day!
The satisfaction and pride of carrying out such a project
guides and motivates our team to develop a product that is always closer to everyone’s needs.
MADE IN ITALY
TOMPOMA is located in Piedmont, in Verbania.
It is the place where everything was born, where since his childhood, Renato has learned to love nature and the mountains, a place between lakes and peaks, ideal for training and gaining the strength to look beyond and achieve many dreams.
TOMPOMA works with its own plants located in central Italy.
Through many welding experiments and studies, a new system, an ad hoc production cycle was born.
All totally made in Italy.
TOMPOMA is not simply a technological tool to overcome a temporary or permanent discomfort but is a design object, the result of experience, study, research and good taste.
